Rare Footage Shows Why Snow Leopards Are The Most Badass Hunters On Earth

This is the incredible moment a snow leopard fell 400ft from a cliff while locked in a deadly embrace with its prey.

The footage was recorded in the Himalayas, India and showed the big cat tussling with what appeared to be a Bharal, a type of ram found in the area.

Despite surviving the initial 400ft fall, the Bharal appears to die following the repeated drops from the cliff, while the snow leopard survives and can be seen dragging its prey along the ground.

The snow leopard and the ram hurtled through the air as they dropped 400ft from a cliff in the Himalayas in India

In the minute-long video, the Bharal can be seen struggling for its life while the big cat acrobatically holds onto it.

The snow leopard is relentless as the animals roll down the steep hill.

Despite impact after impact on the jarring ground, the snow leopard is able to keep hold of its prey in a deadly embrace.

They tumbled through the snowy rocks and although the ram survived the initial impact, it appeared to die with the predator dragging its corpse through the snow

The big cat, aptly named ‘ghost of the mountains’ appears to be unharmed by the fall.

The Bharal is not so lucky, however, and appears lifeless following the repeated drops.

A tourist, who spotted the incredible action, immediately captured it on his camera and shared it on the social media.

Wildlife enthusiast Kirti Rajan Nayak said, ‘Among all the big cats, the snow leopards surely survive one of the harshest environment. Hardy creatures. Warming up for the upcoming winters in search of them.’

A social media user by the name Vikram Hari said, “Amazing skills of the snow leopard. I would have surely died in the first fall itself, these amazing snowy creatures are rolling down hundreds of feet unharmed. Truly amazing.”

Snow leopards can make high jumps and avoid getting hurt because of their flexible muscles and thick skin.

This makes the animal a fierce hunter even in the snowy mountains.
