Tardar Sauce, more commonly known as Grumpy Cat, died at the age of 7 according to a post on its official Twitter page.
Grumpy Cat went viral in 2012 when pictures of the cat’s smug face went viral, according to BBC. It was not long before the picture quickly became a meme.
The cat’s owner, Tabatha Bundesen from Arizona, said its facial expression was the result of a genetic mutation, known as feline dwarfism, as well as an underbite.
But that did not stop the cat from putting smiles across the faces of millions of people.

Its owners said that even though the cat was famous – but we are sure Grumpy Cat had no idea – it led a normal life, the Independent reports.
It had more than 2.4 million followers on Instagram and 1.5 million followers on Twitter.
“Grumpy encountered complications from a recent urinary tract infection that unfortunately became too tough for her to overcome,” a statement read on her official Twitter page. “She passed away peacefully on the morning of Tuesday, May 14, at home in the arms of her mommy, Tabatha.”
The Daily Mail also reported that Tabatha was able to quit her job as a waitress within days of Grumpy Cat’s first photographs on social media as it was reported that she earned $100m from the famous feline.
But rest assured that “her spirit will continue to live on through her fans everywhere”, the cat’s family stated.
