Adidas Has Sold 1,000,000 Eco-Friendly Shoes Made Out Of Ocean Plastic

Adidas recycled over 5,500,000 plastic bottles, selling over 1 000 000 UltraBoost running shoes in 2017-2018 made of recovered plastic from our oceans.

The entire world is calling for large businesses to step in and do their part in helping restore, cleanup and preserve the environment. Adidas acknowledging there is a big issue in our oceans, decided to step in and take action, taking big steps towards sustainable products.

Teaming up with environmental initiative Parley for the Oceans, the UltraBoost running shoe was launched. Each pair consists of approximately 11 plastic bottles, used for the laces, heel webbing, heel lining & sock liner covers.

With three versions of UltraBoost totally sold over 1 million pairs, depleting their stocks out of the production line. Adidas managed to remove and recycle tons of plastic from our oceans since.

Inspired by the statistics, CEO Kasper Rorsted has since launched multiple production lines, which the end-product would assist in cleaning up the oceans and recycling waste.

This is only the beginning, Adidas CEO Kasper Rorsted, has more plans up for this year to create more projects in aim of sustainable products.
