This Underwater Restaurant Is Out Of This world!

Ever wanted to dine while being fully surrounded by ocean life? This underwater restaurant let’s you experience exactly that!

The Maldives are already home to the world’s first Spa Island, and now there is another unique experience on offer – dining in the world’s first all-glass underwater restaurants!

The Conrad Maldives Rangali Island and the new Hurawalhi resort each have their own underwater restaurants, and they are seriously impressive.

Located 16 feet below sea level, the 5.8 Undersea Restaurant at the Hurawalhi is truly exclusive, with only 14 tables.

The dome shaped restaurant has a curved glass roof and glass sides, so diners have breath-taking panoramic views of the tropical fish and sea life swimming by.Guests access the restaurant by making their way down the hotel’s jetty, before walking down a spiral staircase into the reef below.

The unique eatery was actually built in New Zealand before being transported to the Maldives and installed at the luxury adults-only hotel at the end of 2016. And as you would expect, a meal at 5.8 doesn’t come cheap; a six-course “sprinkled with romance” dinner costs $280 (around £211) per person.

Dishes on offer include scallops, yellow fin tuna, red mullet and Angus beef, with blueberry cheesecake, black forest macaroon or Bailey’s coconut praline for dessert. Vegetarian options include a forest mushroom risotto or zucchini flower with tomato jam.

The Hurawalhi resort opened at the end of 2016 and promises “serenity and excitement, comfort and adventure” for its guests. The hotel has its own spa, sports ground and water sports on offer, along with five on-site restaurants and bars.
